What do you make?

My shop began making cabinets and some small furniture. As my skills grew, I found it easier to make smaller and more precise items such as game boards and jewelry box kinds of things. I was exposed to “Fine Woodworking” at an early time in life and found that work far superior to my skill set at the time. I thought if I ever got that good it would be amazing. Well, 30 years passed and now I find myself making the things found in “Fine Woodworking”. Not bragging, but you do something enough times and try one method after another, eventually you build a skillset that works. My learning path also brought me through exotic woods and the quirks that they all have, there always seems to be something new to learn when you work (read play) in my shop.

So I’m interested in knowing what you make, and what you like to work with. What kind of stuff do you build, and do you just make things for yourself or do you sell stuff? Do you get commissioned work?

I know it’s hard to find folk that will actually pay what it is worth to make something special, but here are a few out there still. You just have to know a bit of where to look.

  3. You actually make it seem really easy together with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be really one thing that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very wide for me. I am looking forward in your next put up, I will try to get the hang of it! Shayla Brice Arthur

    1. Thanks, I know the backgammon project is probably one that the novice and maybe even an intermediate woodworker might find a bit hard to do. However I’m glad to put it out there for you to see and learn something from it. I know that I learn a lot from things I will never build but see done by someone else. If you pick up something that you can use in your work, then my goal has been made and I am glad you found information you can use. I have many other projects that I can do here, so stay tuned for more.

  9. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better? Jonell Kaiser Thorndike

    1. Have I thought about page layout? No, I’m a woodworker and not a web designer, I’m interested in putting my work out and showing how I do things, and doing a tutorial or two, but I’m not the type person that designs and makes professional pages. I don’t have funds to pay someone to do that either, I’m a one man shop and doing the best I can with what skills here that I have. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you gained something from what is here.

  10. I am grateful to you for this beautiful content. I have included the content in my favorites list and will always wait for your new blog posts.
